Oscar Zawada with Player of the Year Award

Oscar Zawada has been a football player for New Zealand club Wellington Pheonix FC since August 2022, playing in the Australian league. He felt great in his new environment. He made 25 appearances for the club, scoring 16 goals and providing two assists. He missed only one match due to the birth of a child, which also showed his conscientiousness. Thanks to the efficiency of the 27-year-old player, his club entered the playoffs from sixth place. However, Wellington had already lost in the first round of the postseason to Adelaide United, ending the season.

However, the former youth representative of Poland does not end the season in vain. At the club’s official gala, he received an award from the entire A-League. Zawada was unparalleled in the tournament fans’ voting and won the statuette of the best player of the season. Accepting the award, he thanked everyone for their support. He also praised the very fact of the award, saying that it will motivate him to continue his work.

“This award means a lot. I won’t lie, if you work hard, it’s always nice to earn people’s respect. This is a team sport, and such awards are nice and show that you are on the right track,” Zawada said.

Career of Oscar Zawada

Zawada joined Wellington Phoenix after a short stint at Stal Mielec. Previously, he represented Korean Jeju United, Rakov Czestochowa, Wisla Plock, Karlsruhe, Twente or Wolfsburg, where he grew up on football after leaving Poland.
