As part of the cover of the upcoming Disney+ series, AhsokaEmpire magazine has published a new image of the main character Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) as its creator, Dave Filonitalked about the path she had taken that had led her to this moment.

As previously established in animated canon, Ahsoka Tano actually left the Jedi Order during its waning years, after falling victim to the horrific conspiracy described in clone wars animated series. It is unknown how long she continued her Jedi training over the years, and she was never knighted or reached the rank of Master while still being a Padawan.

Her performances in Star Wars Rebels and the Boba Fett Book - where she worked with Mark HamillLuke Skywalker - Indicated that she still considered herself somehow connected to the Jedi. Emotionally, however, Filoni feels that it is definitely not on a spiritual or emotional level, choosing to isolate himself due to the dangers any large group could be in due to outside influence and corruption.

“She is a wanderer at the moment and is in many ways wary of any organization as such because of the power that comes with her as a group. She’s following a path that basically died out a long time ago. And there are few, if any, left like her. So it’s a lonely thing. What is this life like? If you are single, you have a very narrow circle of friends. How does it feel when you try to open up again?

Ahsoka Tano will be the bridge between the past and limitless possibilities

With Ahsoka as the lead character and a few Rebel favorites incarnated in flesh and blood for the first time, star Wars animated series feel more vital than ever. And part of Filoni’s challenge is to hit the sweet spot with viewers who may know Ahsoka’s past adventures more intimately than others.

At Filoni, star Wars the animated universe now seems indispensable, with the introduction of not only Ahsoka as a headliner, but several big names from rebels the canon came true. For Filoni, his biggest hurdle is finding a balance between those who already know these characters intimately and those who don’t.

“The biggest problem was that there’s a whole bunch of viewers who know her and a whole bunch of people who don’t,” he said. She stands with one foot in star Wars which a lot of people know because of her connection to Anakin, and yet she’s brand new and can go in her own direction, her own path. I think that makes it an interesting bridge between what’s been there before and what’s really possible.”
