Bye Flash understandably in the spotlight of DC and Warner Brothers at the moment, there’s another major DC movie that comics fans should take a look at later this summer. It would be blue beetle. The coming-of-age tale of superheroes hits theaters this August and features a very exciting cast of new and experienced talent. Now, it would seem, before the second trailer, blue beetle announced that the singer Becky G will voice the symbiote of the scarab Hadji-Da.
Becky G herself made an announcement on various blue beetle social media pages where she expressed her excitement about the film and introduced some new footage teasing her voice. Just like in the comics, Kaji-Da is a snarky alien symbiote that grants its host superpowers. This is to the dismay of Jaime Reyes (Xolo Mariduegna). The suit being forced on Jaime literally gives him access to whatever his mind desires in terms of weapons and travel. Just think of a Green Lantern ring that can oppose you from time to time and misinterpret your commands. In the footage for this announcement, DC fans get a better look at Blue Beetle’s signature hand cannons and one massive sword looking to deal real damage.
Becky G has a superhero story
While Becky G is mostly known for her incredible pop music, she also has a few films on her resume. Nothing more than a 2017 reboot Power Rangers where she played Trini, the Yellow Ranger. To say that a movie that didn’t do well at the box office is an underrated gem would be a huge understatement. Everything from action to deeper character work is how you make a modern reboot of a classic franchise. Especially when it came to the character of Trini, played so well by Becky G. Even six years removed from Power Rangers, members of the LGBTQ+ community continue to be severely lacking in major comic book blockbusters. It was one of the many reasons why Power Rangers and the role of Becky G was special.
The other big film the singer starred in was the 2018 sci-fi coming of age story. ACL By no means a cult classic, but ACL, Power RangersAnd blue beetle they all share the common theme of a young man trying to come to terms with his new unreal reality ruled by fate. To take a step forward, both Power Rangers And blue beetle deal with the alien life form and choose a host to become a superhero. Because of that, it will be interesting to see what Becky G brings to this symbiotic role.
When blue beetle Come to theaters?
blue beetle Releases in theaters August 18, 2023. He was originally supposed to go straight to Max, but one day David Zaslav took over the WBD, it received a proper theatrical release. The film will also mark the first time that a Latin American superhero has helmed a major studio film. We should expect the new trailer to debut before Flash hits theaters next week.
