In an age where digital marketing helps every major release in the market with numerous trailers, TV commercials and posters, Hayao Miyazaki uses a different strategy for his upcoming film, How are you doing?According to the manufacturer Toshio Suzuki, the studio will only use the poster for the release that is already available as the only element for their advertising campaign. Until the film hits Japanese theaters this summer, no trailer or other poster will be used to promote the title. The lack of information about the project could spark even more interest among the director’s longtime fans in the story they’re about to tell.

While plot details How are you doing securely kept secret, the film’s premise is that it explores how a real-life book of the same name directly impacts the protagonist’s life. In the 1937 book, a boy named Koperu lives with his mother after his father’s death. He is very close to his uncle, who visits him constantly and documents much of their interaction in a diary. The man hopes to give the record to Koper when he’s older so he can go back in time and relive some of their best moments together. This touching story will be at the center of Miyazaki’s upcoming film.
