Telus: Yesterday’s debates in the Saeima upset me. Running with pigs was a cabaret

On May 9, three decisions were made to make life easier for Polish farmers. These are amendments to the Law on the return of excise tax included in the price of agricultural fuel, the Agricultural Protection Fund and an amendment to the Law on the Management of Agricultural Property Owned by the State Treasury.

At a press conference convened at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development a day later, the head of the ministry, Robert Telus, summarized not only the decisions taken, but also the political atmosphere around the problems of Polish farmers. At the same time, he appreciated the substantive spirit and ability to dialogue of most of the farmer groups with which he spoke.

“Farmers today will not applaud that this is good. But we fight together. Many thanks to those farmers who approach this right in detail. I prefer to talk about these issues with them than with politicians - Minister Robert Telus confessed at the conference.

- The law on the Fund for the Protection of Agriculture is an important act that farmers have long been waiting for. The fund will be used by farmers who have not received payment for products sold from bankrupt buyers - added.

Telus: Running around the Diet with pigs is a cabaret

The Minister also acknowledged that the political atmosphere around the problems of agriculture sometimes resembles a cabaret. The head of the Ministry of Agriculture rather restrainedly criticized the behavior of opposition politicians who staged a show in the Seimas.

-Yesterday’s debates in the Diet upset me. We have built a coalition of five border countries, very different politically, faster than the coalition in Poland, to support Polish agriculture - Robert Telus said. - Yesterday’s running around the Diet with pigs was more like a cabaret than a serious approach to business - the minister said.
