Popular YouTuber PewDiePie was banned from Twitch shortly after returning to the platform. The account was blocked, despite the fact that the celebrity … did not appear in front of the camera even once. Fans explain how that could be enough.
PewDiePie hasn’t been active on Twitch for a while. To the surprise of everyone, he returned to the platform, albeit in a heavily modified edition. However, the period of activity was quite short because one of the most popular online creators had just been banned. What is it about?
PewDiePie returns to Twitch after years away
In March 2023, Felix “PewDiePie” Kjellberg began streaming again on Twitch after several years of inactivity on the platform. The celebrity account has started streaming episodes of the Trailer Park Boys mysteriously. Commentators were sure that they were taken over by a hacker.
As it turned out, this was a test of CoPilot Media, a service that manages the rights to monetize content. The company owns the rights to both the series and the content created by the YouTuber. Therefore, it was decided to test the system in an unusual way before starting a new project. We are talking about the Pewdiepie Infinity stream, which provides continuous rotation of celebrity content 24/7.
PewDiePie banned from Twitch - did he break the rules of the platform?
After just over a month of non-stop broadcasting, the YouTuber’s channel disappeared from Twitch, also under rather mysterious circumstances. PewDiePie never appeared live, so why was he banned?
Bewildered internet users quickly came up with a fairly plausible theory. The Pewdiepie Infinity channel consists of YouTube snippets of Kjellberg’s content stitched together. Over the years, he has created a huge content library there - about 4,700 videos. This is the only way an “infinite” transmission is possible at all.
At the same time, the guidelines for creators provided by YouTube are much lighter than the restrictions placed on streamers on Twitch. Commentators suspect that some of the content that was “still running” on Google’s video platform was no longer up to par with the popular streaming service. However, this is just speculation so far.
