In this episode, Miranda is dealing with the death of her mother; elsewhere, Carrie’s laptop crashes, erasing all of her columns, and Samantha appears to lose her ability to orgasm.
“My Motherboard, My Me” is one of the show’s most dramatic performances. Nixon delivers a stunning layered portrayal of grief as Kim Cattrall has the comedic weight of the episode with its chaotic storyline. Carrie, however, is at a worse disadvantage, reacting selfishly to Aidan’s attempts to help. Still, Nixon and Cattrall’s stellar performance is enough to cement “My Motherboard, My Me” as one of the show’s best episodes.

An American Girl in Paris: Part One revolves heavily around Carrie’s new life in Paris. Parker shows his goofy side as Carrie lives out her Parisian fantasy, though the dream soon turns into a nightmare. Cattrall also gets some incredible material, and her closing speech at the charity event is a perfect, sweet, and poignant introduction to who she is and what she stands for.
4 “I love New York”

Logically, the city plays a pivotal role in many episodes, including the season 4 finale, “I’m the Heart of New York.” The plot focuses on Big’s move to Napa just as Miranda’s due date is approaching. Meanwhile, Samantha’s relationship with Richard takes a turn for the worse when she suspects him of cheating.
“I Heart NY” is a love letter to the city in which Carrie cannot understand how Big could have left New York. The episode includes one of the best portrayals of Carrie and Big’s relationship, as well as hilarious comedy from Kim Cattrall. In terms of season finales, “I Heart NY” is one of the show’s best, blending seriousness with humor, resulting in a satisfying end to a great season.
3 “The Real Me”

When Carrie agrees to walk the runway, she doesn’t know she’ll do it in her underwear. Her haute couture experience leaves a bitter aftertaste as things don’t go according to plan on the runway.
The Real Me is best known for having Carrie fall on the runway. Heidi Klum walks on it. Each girl gets a storyline on how to deal with her looks, and this episode offers half-baked but still valuable lessons in self-love and acceptance. And while The Real Me comes to a stereotypical conclusion, the episode is funny and catchy enough to deserve a high rating.

Unlike many TV series finales, An American in Paris: Part Two feels surprisingly small-scale. The show opts for a more intimate ending without any fancy gimmicks. However, it works; An American Girl in Paris: Part II is iconic and intense, the perfect ending to a show that has revolutionized television and the way viewers see female sexuality on screen.
