A third nuclear power plant can be built at a known location. Sasin reveals the details

Must read

We have just found out the location and partner for the construction of the first Polish nuclear power plant, and are already studying the details of a third project of this type. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Jacek Sasin.

The first Polish nuclear power plant will be built in cooperation with the American company Westinghouse in the Kashubian village of Kopalino in the commune of Choczevo. The second will be built by a private consortium of PGE and ZE PAK with Korean partner KHNP. This project will be built in Pontnov. However, Poland’s nuclear aspirations do not end there.

Third NPP. Sasin reveals the details

The already known projects, which have been talked about a lot in recent months, will be joined by another one. – We are facing the choice of a third location for a nuclear power plant in Poland – This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of State Assets Jacek Sasin on Telewizja Etapm. Interestingly, he also indicated the most likely place for the creation of this project.

– There are many indications that this could be Belchatow – added the Deputy Prime Minister. At the same time, Jacek Sasin specified that the issue has not yet been resolved and requires many measures.

– Two locations must be presented. We prefer this location because having an electrical connection makes this type of investment very easy. It’s cheaper. We could use existing networks and network connections both in Pontnov and Belchatov, which would facilitate investments and reduce their implementation time - Jacek Sasin explained.

Belchatow is logical and profitable

As Deputy Prime Minister Jacek Sasin noted, nuclear power plants in Poland are still planned in places where the largest coal-fired power plants are currently located, or where, due to other energy projects, it will be necessary to build the corresponding transmission networks. .

In Belkhatov’s case, a nuclear power plant could replace a lignite-fired power plant, which is one of the largest emitters of carbon dioxide in Europe. Thus, it would be a huge step towards achieving a much lower emissivity of the Polish energy sector.
