Kamil Stoch can consider the last World Cup competition in Vikersund successful. In a recent interview, he admitted that he still believes in his abilities.
Everything indicates that Kamil Stoch has overcome the problems he struggled with a few weeks ago. There are five competitions left until the end of the season, three of which are individual, and the 35-year-old will have the opportunity to prove his good form. This season, he has been in the top ten at the World Cup 12 times, but he has never been able to climb the podium.
Kamil Stoch told what influenced his good result in Vikersund
Kamil Stoch finished eighth in Vikersund, his first time in the top 10 on the ski jump this season. He used to finish in the top ten but was working on a few things that needed to be improved. In the end, he managed to achieve his intended goal.
“There were several questions. It’s not easy stuff… Basically, it was about changing the way I walked out the door, because that’s where I lost the most. It was too aggressive and I needed to gain altitude without losing speed. It was a change in the vision of the jump after the advice of the coaches and my own analysis. It was about getting into it with your whole being, getting out of control. First I had to visualize it in my head and then do it at full power, the two-time Crystal Ball winner told skijumping.pl.
Kamil Stoch believes in his abilities
The 35-year-old realizes that he is still not at his best, and in recent months he has been trying to find himself from a few seasons ago. As he argues, there is no reason not only to rejoice and celebrate, but also to complain. Despite everything, he still believes he can do much better.
“I felt it all season. I get to a certain level, like one more jump and everything will work, and then what happens is that I have to build everything from scratch. After the World Championships in Planica, it seemed that everything would be fine, but after a while it turns out that it was not. This is again a painstaking construction of everything that takes a lot of strength, especially mental, to reach a certain level. (…) I am aware that I can still bite and do very good jumps at the highest level, he concluded.
