GDDKiA was waiting for the application for the contest “Name the car TBM” until November 23. The rules of participation were described in detail in the announcement dated November 2. In total, the Directorate received about 1,500 applications. After taking into account repetitions and incomplete applications, the institution received 348 unique proposals, which were evaluated by the competition committee. The committee included representatives of the GDDKiA, the Ministry of Infrastructure and the contractor (a consortium of Mostostal Warszawa and Acciona Construction).
Vote. Announcement of results on December 21!
Internet users will decide for themselves which of the six proposals will be chosen. Voting begins and will last until December 16, 2022. The name with the most votes will become the official “name” of TBM.
The winners of the competition will be able to visit the construction site of the tunnel S19 Rzeszow Poludne-Babica. They will also receive a set of promotional gifts from GDDKiA and the investment contractor. The winners are the people whose unique name suggestions made it to the second stage. In the event that one name was proposed by more than one participant, the competition commission will select the winner from among these participants by drawing lots. The winners will be contacted by email.
Transport like never before
Currently, fragments of the TBM machine are being transported to the investment site. This huge “mole” is being transported from Spain in parts. Some directly overland on trucks, while the largest elements arrived in Poland by ship. They were brought from Szczecin to Opole on barges and pontoons along the Oder River, and then set off by land. Up-to-date information about the route of the convoy and road difficulties can be found on the GDDKiA website and in social networks.
