Collider is pleased to present an exclusive clip for the upcoming Korean spy thriller. Hunting. The film premiered earlier this year at Cannes and stars Emmy Award winners. Lee Young-jae (squid game) and marks the actor’s directorial debut. Jung Jae plays the head of the foreign branch of the KCIA named Park Byung-ho, who is tasked with finding a spy within the ranks of the South Korean government after a high-ranking North Korean official asked for asylum in the 1980s.

In the new 1-minute and 34-second clip, Pyong-ho arrives at the Washington Grand Hotel, where the South Korean president and military dictator are staying. Chun Doo Hwan, will reside. A protest formed outside the building. Protesters in the crowd hold signs with phrases such as “We want democracy”, “Chun = the devil”, and “Chun is NOT our President”. A group of protesters are also chanting “Kick him out!” Inside the hotel is the head of the internal department, Kim Jong-do (Jeon Woo-song) is seen inside the hotel directing traffic in an attempt to secure the President. Protesters lift the president’s effigy above the crowd and set it on fire as Pyung-ho enters the building with his partner and KCIA’s top Foreign Office agent, Bang Ju-kyung (jung hye jin). Once inside, Jeong-do scolds Pyong-ho, who blames him and his foreign unit for not dispersing the crowd.

This confrontation between these two characters is only a small fragment of the overall conflict of the film. Both Pyong-ho and Jung-do are determined to find the truth, as they are both tasked with investigating an alien unit in search of this spy known as Donglim following a leak that threatens national security. The two become advisors as they both try to track down a spy in the other’s organization, and both of them start blaming each other as they both fail to find the mole anywhere else in their divisions.

Who else is a part Hunting?

It premiered in South Korea in August 2022. Hunting this is the first time Jung Ji made history earlier this year by becoming the first Asian actor to win an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his portrayal of Song Ki Hoon in the highly popular squid game series on Netflix, will be the director of the project. The film is adapted from a screenplay written by Jo Seung Hee. The cast that joins Jung-ji, Woo-sung and Hye-jin includes Heo Song Tae, Go Yoon Jung, Kim Jung Sooas well as Jung Man Sik. Next time Jung Ji will appear in the future star Wars Disney+ series Acolyte the action takes place during the era of the High Republic and starring along with Amandla Stenberg, Jody Turner-Smith, Manny Jacintoas well as Charlie Barnett.
