I have worked in the news industry for over 10 years. I have a deep understanding of how the news industry works and how to get information out to the public. I am also an author at Daily News Hack, where I mostly cover health news. I have a keen interest in health and fitness, and I firmly believe that knowledge is power when it comes to taking care of your body. I want to help people live healthier lives by sharing my knowledge with them, and LinkedIn is the perfect platform for me to do that.

The official position of science is clear: homeopathic remedies do not work. There is now a motion for the Supreme Chamber of Pharmacy to also take a clear stand on homeopathy.

The petition came from the community of pharmacists themselves. The petition clearly expresses expectations towards the Supreme Pharmaceutical Chamber. The petitioners want the NIA to officially confirm that homeopathy “is a method based on the use of useless drugs with scientifically unproven effects.” “We do not comment on this issue,” Konrad Madejczyk, spokesman for the Supreme Chamber of Pharmacy, told Wprost.

Homeopathic Remedies Don’t Work, But They’re Legal

Earlier, Madejczyk tweeted that “as of today, the discussion about homeopathic medicines is meaningless. The rules of trade and their production are regulated by law. Homeopathy is allowed in Poland and doctors and patients decide whether to use it or not.

The authors of the petition, however, do not refer to the law itself (the petition does not require a ban on the sale of homeopathic medicines), but they want a clear position of the self-government of pharmacists in accordance with the modern scientific knowledge of homeopathy. And almost directly suggest that a pharmacist who sells a homeopathic medicine to a patient say: this medicine does not work.

“It should be emphasized that it is the duty of the pharmacist to provide reliable and reliable information, including to patients considering the use of homeopathic medicines. First of all: information about the lack of their proven effectiveness and the risks arising from this. So far, there is no convincing scientific evidence to support the benefits of homeopathy over placebo.

Homeopathy controversy - expert commentary

The petition was signed by Prof. Agnieszka Schuster-Ciesielska from the Department of Virology and Immunology at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. She commented on her caption: “(…) homeopaths believe that if you take a substance that causes the symptoms that you have and then dilute it to one atom in the universe, then you somehow cure the disease. Homeopathy is not a science, it is an alternative medicine.

Dr. Pavel Grzesewski, pediatrician and immunologist, one of the NRL experts in the fight against COVID-19, commenting on the case on Twitter, stressed that “scientific discussion is needed, taking into account new research methods, in order to convince patients, doctors and offices about the dangers of anti-science propaganda. But at the same time, he stressed that, first of all, it is necessary to change the regulations.

The petition was also supported by the anesthesiologist Prof. Wojciech Szczeklik. As he emphasized, homeopathy can harm and delay effective treatment.

On Wednesday, February 8, the petition received more than 330 signatures. LINK TO PETITION.
