The bill on wind farms, which has been high-profile in recent weeks, is back in the Sejm. This is one of the important milestones of the KPO, as well as a source of intense political discussions, including within the United Right.
The windmill law continues to evoke emotion. The government’s draft amendment to the so-called Law 10H was presented to the marshal’s office back in July 2022, but the discussion resumed after the amendment proposed by MP Marek Suski, which was discussed for several days.
Susky: Wind power is not a perfect solution
MP Marek Suska was asked on Polish Radio 24 about issues related to the Windmill Law and the famous handwritten amendment.
“This energy is there when the wind blows, not when it is needed. This often doesn’t overlap, so it’s not an ideal solution - Marek Susky said – Wise use of the wind – at sea. There it is the utilization of potential at the level of about 50%. - added.
- Yesterday in the committee, and then in the Seimas, this distance was discussed for a very long time, which is not 500, but 700 meters - he said, referring to the change in the minimum distance at which windmills can be placed from residential buildings. That change was the subject of a last-minute amendment.
The law on wind farms will become more liberal
However, the Wind Farms Act is intended not only to change the minimum distance in relation to building permits for wind farms, but also to liberalize regulations and give some decision-making power to local governments.
However, MP Marek Suski acknowledged that the state should draft the law in such a way as to prevent investments that could make life difficult for some citizens.
- The state must ensure that citizens do not harm themselves - This was stated by MP Marek Suski.
