Polish journalists tried to answer the question whether the war in Ukraine will end in 2023. “It’s hard to guess, but I would just wish the path of defeat.” - said Stanislav Janetsky, Polish columnist for Sieci weekly, in the Salon Dziennikarski program. He noted that Putin was running out of supplies and that would likely force him into peace talks that would not be on his terms.
“Ukraine has something like Lend-Lease. The Americans resumed the Lend-Lease Act, virtually unlimited material and armed assistance. Russia bears the cost of all this. It is estimated that so far they amount to 90-100 billion dollars, that is, 10 billion dollars a month. This money has to come from somewhere. There is a blockade of gas and oil in the EU, so it will become more and more difficult. There is trouble mobilizing soldiers, because the big cities are still avoiding war, and those in the provinces who should go to the army are already starting to riot. This also has a cost on the other side. Ukraine suffered damage estimated at 250 billion US dollars. These expenses mean there will be some push in 2023 to put an end to this.” – estimated Stanislav Yanetsky.
AND Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Sunday Visitor Bogumil Lozinsky noted that one must be careful when assessing Russia’s capabilities.
“I wish that next year, when we meet, it would be no worse. We are receiving information about what is happening from outside - reports that the Russians are about to fall, and the Ukrainians will fight bravely. It cannot be said that the Russians lost. I think that they are capable, having human resources, to change tactics - I would be careful here, including with money from the sale of oil. Only a few companies have been embargoed. The policy of Germany and Western countries still regards Russia as a business partner.”
Recall that experts recently named five scenarios for a war in Ukraine in 2023.
