Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse one of the most anticipated films of this year. The sequel to the 2018 Oscar-winning animated film boasts a journey through the multiverse with a variety of graphics and animation styles, new Spider-Men and the emotional story behind it. This feature is approaching the New Year, giving fans a taste of various characters.
A new image posted to the film’s official Twitter account shows Gwen swinging in the frame, with a fitting caption reading “Getting into the New Year’s swing.” In execution Hailee Steinfeld, Through the universes of spiders sees Gwen return to take Miles on a new adventure. In the image, her costume remains the same (for now!) as she flies through the multiverse firing her web shooter.
In an upcoming feature, after reuniting with Gwen, Miles will be catapulted through the Multiverse, where he will meet a team of Spider-Men tasked with protecting her very existence. However, things go awry when Miles faces the other Spider-Men, so he must rethink what it means to be a hero in order to save the multiverse and everyone he loves. To be sure, the film’s promotional materials show that this is an emotional and exciting ride into Miles’ world; he is still trying to figure out how to be a good Spider-Man while overcoming the dangers of a young man.
After the record-breaking success of 2018 Spiderman: Into the Universes, writers/producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller wanted to further expand the universe with a two-part story. Consequently, Through the universes of spiders is the first part followed by Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, which will complete the trilogy. In a recent interview, the duo promised an unforgettable experience, saying, “The goal is just to make you laugh and cry and experience something you’ve never experienced before.”
The film will bring back familiar faces and introduce many new ones. Via Spider-Verse voice acting includes Shameik Moore as Miles Morales, Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy, Jason Schwartzman like Jonathan Onn/Spot Jake Johnson like Peter B. Parker, Oscar Isaac like Miguel O’Hara/Spider-Man 2099, Issa Ray like Jessica Drew Daniel Kaluuya like Hobie Brown/Spider Punk Brian Tyree Henry as the father of Miles Jefferson Davis and Luna Lauren Velez as Miles’ mother Rio Morales and many others.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse will debut on June 2, 2023, and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse comes out March 29, 2024.
