Though right now he’s being scolded for returning as James Howlett aka The Wolverine in an upcoming film. Deadpool 3we all know there’s a softer theater boy lurking inside. Hugh Jackman. The jack of all trades, the famous actor has appeared in numerous Broadway productions over the years from Carousel To Boy from Ozand, more recently, Music Man. But that was his West End performance in the 1998 revival. Oklahoma! it forever made viewers talk about the actor’s incredible range. And now, for the first time ever, his legendary performance will take the stage off the big screen for two days.
Thanks to Trafalgar Releasing, the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to screen the film will be screened in select theaters across the country for fans who couldn’t (or were too young) to see the famous production. Tickets for the screenings went on sale today and you can come to Surrey on Sunday 16 July and Wednesday 19 July.
Along with the big news, the studio also released a trailer that shows Jackman, along with the rest of the award-winning cast, performing hit after hit from a loved one. Richard Rogers And Oscar Hammerstein II production. Directed by: 3-time Tony Award winner. Trevor Nunn (CATS, Outcasts), the function is also marked Maureen Lipman, Josephine Gabriel, Vicki Simon, Jimmy Johnston, Peter Polycarpuand Tony and Olivier Award winner Shuler Hensley. The film’s release not only marks the 25th anniversary of Jackman’s production, but also the show’s 80th anniversary.
What Oklahoma! ABOUT?
The very first musical written by the iconic duo Rodgers and Hammerstein (Sounds of music, Carousel, South Pacific, King and me), the show takes place in 1906 on an extensive farm. Love story, Oklahoma! focuses on Laurie Williams’ (Gabrielle)’s choice between two suitors, a cowboy named Curley MacLaine (Jackman) and a bad farmhand named Jud Fry (Hensley).
There is no doubt that his appearance in Oklahoma! led Jackman to stardom as just two years later he landed his breakout role in X-Men, quickly becoming one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood. Likewise, his incredible talent for singing and dancing would also see him play roles such as Outcasts And The Greatest Showman not to mention his own one-man show in 2011.
