On Saturday, May 13, a two-day congress called “Program Street of Law and Justice” began, during which the party’s program proposals for the upcoming elections were discussed and presented. The last debates concerned the program and the future of Polish sports.
The sports debate during the PiS congress was attended by the head of the Ministry of Sports and Tourism Kamil Bortnichuk, Deputy Minister of Sports and Tourism Anna Krupka, Sebastian Mila, Slawomir Schmal, Tomasz Majewski, Marian Kmita and Jan Winkel.
Kamil Bortnichuk: Sport has to compete with unattractive alternatives
The first to speak was Minister of Sports and Tourism Kamil Bortnichuk. – Polish sport is primarily for Polish youth. This is especially important in such difficult times when you have to compete with the competition of not very attractive alternatives, I think here about technological innovations, the Internet, television, mobile phones, he said.
“The more important are sports, physical culture and the conscious development of a young society,” he added.
Kamil Bortnichuk: Poland needs strong people
The head of the Ministry of Sports and Tourism assured that sport will occupy an important place in the party campaign for 2023-2027. Minister Kamil Bortnichuk said during the congress of the PiS program that this year sports spending could amount to four billion zł.
- In 2015, when we came to power, sports spending amounted to less than a billion zlotys. In the project for 2023, we have PLN 3.5 billion in the budget of the Ministry of Sports. I am convinced that we will surpass it, that we will reach four billion, - Bortnichuk emphasized and added that they can be spent on projects.
In addition, according to the head of the Ministry of Sports and Tourism, sports also have important social functions. - Sport is not only health. It helps to build character, and Poland needs people who can win, as well as those who can learn from failures in order to become even stronger in the future, continued Minister of Sports and Tourism Kamil Bortnichuk.
The Minister of Sports and Tourism stressed that he wants every school in Poland to have a full-size safe gym. “We are determined to implement the Olympia hostel construction program,” he admitted.
During the panel on sports, the Deputy Minister of Sports and Tourism also spoke. “We focus on sustainable development, including in sports, because we want Poles, regardless of where they live, to have equal access to sports infrastructure,” said Anna Krupka, deputy head of the Ministry of Sports and Tourism.
Sebastian Mila: In seven years we will be able to collect the first effects
Sebastian Mila, on the other hand, noted that the football school certification program implemented by the Ministry of Sports and Tourism shows how young Polish players join first league teams, using the example of Zagłębie Lubin. According to the former athlete, the most important thing is the basics, and if they are, then the harvest will be harvested in a few years.
– Today I find it hard to believe that we will be able to compete on equal terms with the Germans or the British, but if we follow the right program, then we will have a real chance to fight with the best. Without funds, we will not stand a chance,” he said.
Sebastian Mila, when asked when these effects will be visible, answered that in seven years, which surprised Minister Kamil Bortnichuk, who wanted to say in three years.
