DHL and Cainiao, a company owned by China’s Alibaba Group, want to build the largest out-of-home delivery network in Poland. The companies intend to invest 60 million euros in the installation of new parcel machines throughout the country.
DHL eCommerce Solutions, e-commerce logistics specialist of the Deutsche Post DHL Group, and Cainiao Network, a global smart logistics company owned by Alibaba Group, have signed an agreement under which DHL will buy a stake in Cainiao Poland.
DHL and Cainiao join forces. Competition for InPost?
According to Wiadomoscihandlowe.pl, the companies say the partnership aims to improve the quality and speed of out-of-home delivery in Poland. In the first phase after the deal, both companies plan to invest 60 million euros to install parcel machines across the country in order to create one of the largest hotspot networks in Poland.

We will create an extensive network of postamats with the latest technology - he adds.
William Xiong, Chief Strategy Officer and General Manager of the Europe and Southeast Asia Region at Cainiao Network, emphasizes that his company is committed to contributing to the development of a sustainable logistics ecosystem by deepening cooperation with local partners.

1200 slots to start
To start, the two companies will connect their existing networks of parcel vending machines so that consumers have immediate and seamless access to the new offering. Both companies already operate 1,200 parcel machines in Poland. The strategic goal is to build the leading network of parcel machines in our country with trouble-free operation in the first and last miles.
