The Italians have introduced a new urban electric car with a cult name. It will soon join the Fiat lineup.
Topolino is a well-known automotive name associated not only with Italy. Produced by Fiat between 1936 and 1955, the 500, commonly known as the “Topolino”, created the idea of mobility for people. Now, under this name, a two-seater electric car will be produced, which has a twin design with the Citroen Ami and Opel Rocks Electric. The new Topolino is a vehicle designed to move around the city.
Double to the city
The new Topolino embodies the Italian spirit perfectly. It is ideal for the city and people looking for sustainable mobility solutions. It is aimed at a young audience. Only 16 year olds with a moped license will be able to drive it.
Small engine, short range
Fiat, apart from the name and purpose of the car, did not provide technical details about the Topolino electric car. It is only known that this is a two-seater, and the photographs show that it has a soft folding roof and no doors. Assuming it’s a twin design with the Citroen Ami and Opel Rocks Electric, you’d expect it to be powered by an 8.2 hp electric motor and powered by a 5.5 kWh battery. Probably the range of Topolino is up to 75 km. Assuming that the Topolino is similar in size to the Citroen Ami, we would expect it to be about 2.4 m long, about 1.4 m wide and about 1.5 m high. The Topolino should not weigh more than 500 kg. .
Fiat did not disclose the price of the new city electric car. Opel has priced the Opel Rocks-e in Germany at €7,990. We also don’t know if Topolino will share the same fate as the twin models and if it will be unavailable in Poland.
