The cost of gasoline in Ukraine has fallen and will fall again: the expert named the reason

In Ukraine, where the Verkhovna Rada recently partially returned excises on fuel, over the past few months fuel has fallen in price by 4-5 hryvnias. As of March 22, the cost of a liter of A-95 at Ukrainian gas stations is UAH 47.29 on average, diesel fuel is UAH 48.08. In the last week, the fall in prices stopped, but fuel market experts predict that in the coming weeks, another 1-2 hryvnias may differ from the current price, Facts ICTV writes.

According to the head of the A-95 Consulting Group, Sergey Kuyun, oil prices have halved on the world market - now the price is $70 per barrel, and a year ago, in March, record levels were recorded - $140. The reason for the price reduction is the embargo on Russian oil. Sanctions force the Russians to look for new routes for the supply of their oil products, they are far and costly. In order for at least someone to buy their oil, Russia is forced to make big discounts. Also pay extra for transportation so that the fuel goes to the other side of the world, Kuyun says.

“We see another destruction of the myth that without Russian oil everything will stop, there will be a rise in prices, a shortage. On the contrary, today we have record-breaking fuel reserves in Europe and Ukraine, which is why all this puts pressure on prices, they are falling. And we see that we have additional potential to reduce the prices of gasoline and diesel fuel - UAH 1-2 over the next weeks, maybe 10 days, this will happen”- predicts the head of the A-95 Consulting Group.

The expert notes that now Ukraine has enough of all types of fuel. There is so much of it that there is nowhere to store it - traders do not use tank farms for security reasons, all gas stations are full of fuel, there are full fuel trucks and tanks. Now the sowing season has begun, the peak of fuel consumption, but Ukraine is ready for this. And there will definitely not be a deficit, like last year. What will happen to prices next, whether oil will become cheaper on the world market, is difficult to predict accurately. So far, anti-Russian sanctions are in place, and they are effective.

“In Russia, oil is accumulating, they cannot sell it, all the tankers that can be on the water are flooded, they have filled all possible tanks. And it is not known how everything will develop further. They may have to reduce oil refining, and accordingly they will have to reduce oil production. So we’re watching it now.”Kuyun says.

Automobile gas also fell in price - from the beginning of the year by 7 hryvnia. on average, now the price has stabilized at about 22 hryvnia. But the reason for this is very ambiguous, the expert notes. Now many suspicious liquefied gas is imported to Ukraine from the Baltic countries - from Latvia, Lithuania, and also from Poland. And there is every reason to believe that this is cheap gas.

“Documents show that these are so-called mixes containing Russian gas. Some batches are Russian gas, but with other documents issued by European countries, so it is no longer Russian. Then our customs office accepts and issues it. This gas is very cheap. The Russians have been driven into a dead end, they are ready to sell it for a penny, just to take it out.Kuyun explains.

He adds that no sanctions have been imposed on Russian liquefied gas, because it is freely imported to Europe, mixed with another, or simply processed documents, and this way it gets to Ukraine.
