Ex-WBC light heavyweight champion Alexander Gvozdyk, who victoriously returned to professional boxing after a three-year break, found out the name of his next opponent, the date and place of the fight. On May 6, the Ukrainian will perform on the undercard of the Saul “Canelo” Alvarez - John Ryder fight at Akron Stadium in Guadalajara (Mexico). The opponent of the 35-year-old Kharkiv resident will be the WBO European champion, 32-year-old boxer from Latvia Richard Bolotnik (19 wins, 8 of them by knockout, 6 losses, 1 draw), who sensationally won The Golden Contract tournament.
The Riga native was scheduled to enter the ring on April 1 on the undercard of Anthony Joshua vs. Jermaine Franklin, but his opponent, Brit Craig Richards, suffered a hand injury and the bout was cancelled. In his last confrontation in April 2022, Bolotnik defeated Croat Hrvoe Sep in Barcelona by decision.

As you know, earlier the bronze medalist of the Olympic Games Gvozdik helped Saul “Canelo” Alvarez prepare for the fight with the WBA Super light heavyweight champion Russian Dmitry Bivol. It is the coach of the famous Mexican Eddie Reynoso who will lead Alexander to a tough duel with Bolotnik.
Recall that Alexander Gvozdik suffered his only defeat in his professional career in October 2019, when he lost ahead of schedule to the Russian Artur Beterbiev (now the boxer represents Canada) in a unification fight and lost his WBC belt.
Earlier, FACTS reported that in 2020 Alexander Gvozdyk announced the end of his professional career.
