Despite the war, the government not only indexed pensions in March, but also plans to increase the amount of payments twice more.

It should be noted that the purpose of indexation is to support the least financially protected citizens who are no longer able to work and pensions remain the only source of income for them.
The first indexation of pensions this year took place on March 1 for 10.5 million pensioners and amounted to 19.7%.
From April 1, automatic recalculation of pensions will be carried out for 0.6 million working pensioners, taking into account the updated (increased) insurance period.
And from July 1, special pensions for 22.7 thousand scientists, civil servants, employees of local governments will be indexed by 19.7%. With any calculations, the increase in pensions will be at least 100 hryvnia.
It should be noted that for indexation, the Law on the State Budget for 2023 provides for a corresponding transfer from the State Budget to the Pension Fund of Ukraine.
Recall that from March 1, pensions were indexed for:

5.2 million “civilian” pensioners who are assigned a pension under Law No. 1058 by 2020; for them, the pension increase will be made through indexation by 19.7% of the average wage, from which the pension is calculated.

4.2 million people whose pensions will increase due to a 19.7% increase in the fixed amount of minimum pension payments.

0.5 million pensioners of law enforcement agencies, for whom the entire pension will be indexed by 19.7%.

94.5 thousand people receiving a disability pension due to injury or illness as a result of the Chernobyl disaster.
In addition, monthly compensation payments (appointed at the initiative of the president) will be paid for pensioners over 70 years old, which are established if the pension of such pensioners does not reach UAH 10,340:

570 UAH - people over 80;

456 UAH - people aged 75 - 80 years;

300 UAH - people aged 70 - 75 years.
Also, from March 1, monthly insurance payments were indexed by 19.7% for 166.5 thousand victims and persons entitled to monthly insurance payments in the event of the death of the victim.
It should also be noted that the government has introduced temporary restrictions on the maximum amount of indexation of pensions. The size of the increase in pensions based on the results of indexation will be limited to UAH 1.5 thousand. for all recipients of pensions and insurance payments, regardless of category. The authority to set the appropriate limit was granted to the Cabinet of Ministers by the Law on the State Budget for 2023.
