In March 2023, pensions will be indexed, including those receiving the minimum payment, working pensioners will be recalculated in April, and in July - for scientists, civil servants and employees of local governments.
According to the Ministry of Social Policy, this year the indexation of the lowest pensions will be held for the first time.
“Previously, such pensions were not subject to indexation and were revised only along with an increase in the subsistence minimum. The indexation of pensions from March 1, 2023 will be 19.7%. An increase in the amount of pensions will take place for 10.5 million pensioners”- the message says.
From March 1, pensions will be indexed for:

5.2 million “civilian” pensioners - due to indexation by 19.7% of the average wage, from which the pension is calculated;

4.2 million people whose pensions will increase due to a 19.7% increase in the fixed amount of minimum pension payments: pensions, the amount of which already includes a state supplement to the state-guaranteed minimum amount, the increase will increase from UAH 420 to 520.

0.5 million pensioners of law enforcement agencies, for whom the entire amount of pension will be indexed by 19.7%;
-
94.5 thousand people receiving a disability pension due to injury or illness, as a result of the Chernobyl disaster.
In the future, “age-related” supplements to pensions will be paid if the amount of pension payments is less than UAH 10,340:

570 UAH - people over 80;
-
456 UAH - people aged 75 - 80 years;
-
300 UAH - people aged 70 - 75 years.
Also, from March 1, monthly insurance payments for 166.5 thousand victims and persons entitled to monthly insurance payments in the event of the death of the victim will be indexed by 19.7%.
From April 1, automatic recalculation of pensions will be carried out for 0.6 million working pensioners, taking into account the updated (increased) insurance period.
From July 1, special pensions for 22.7 thousand scientists, civil servants, employees of local governments will be indexed by 19.7%.
The ministry stressed that in any calculations, the increase in pensions will be at least 100 hryvnia.
The payments of 0.5 million pensioners who received pensions in 2020-2022 will be increased by the same amount. However, their pensions will not be indexed - they already receive a pension much higher than those citizens who have the same length of service and the ratio of wages to the average wage in the country, but retired in previous years. The fact is that pensions for those who have reached retirement age, starting from 2020, are calculated with a higher average wage than in previous years. Consequently, the indexation of pension payments for them would lead to an increase in the gap between the size of pensions for people with the same length of service, the same ratio of their wages to the average wage in the country, but who retired in different years.
Recall that this year, temporary restrictions are introduced on the maximum amount of indexation of pensions. The size of the increase in pensions based on the results of indexation will be limited to UAH 1.5 thousand. for all recipients of pensions and insurance payments, regardless of category.
