Iga Swiatek spoke about the war in Ukraine

During the press conference, Swiatek was almost at full strength. She willingly spoke about her health, did not shy away from answering questions related to the war in Ukraine. Russian and Belarusian players had to sign declarations confirming their neutrality and obliging them not to support the war. When the Polish woman was asked how the British public would react to athletes from the East, she replied:

“Of course, it’s hard for me to predict how the crowd will behave. It’s certainly a good thing that Wimbledon is asking players to be honest about what they think about the war and who they support. We have to show good performance, and that’s what I’m focused on. I believe that everyone should be against the war. It makes sense to me. Looking at last year’s events, it’s good that the organizers are asking about it, said Swiatek, quoted by Interia.
