Polish volleyball players are preparing for the last tournament of the main stage of the League of Nations. As hosts of the Final 8 in Gdansk, they don’t have to worry about participating, but the matches in the Philippines will indicate where they will go to fight in their home country. Unexpectedly, Sunday morning passed for the Grbic volleyball players under the sign of a forced evacuation from the hotel.
The Polish women’s team has already completed the VNL main stage competition and may be preparing for the final in the USA. Colleagues by profession have to play four more matches at the last tournament in the Philippines. On Thursday, the wards of Nikola Grbic set off. On Sunday morning they had to leave the hotel unexpectedly.
Evacuation of Polish volleyball players
The Poles arrived in the Philippines earlier to get used to the new conditions and survive the change of time zones. A difference of six hours is very painful for the body of the players. On Sunday morning, they unexpectedly had to evacuate the hotel. According to the official Twitter profile of the Polish Volleyball Association, at 2:20 a.m. Polish time, a fire broke out on the 2nd floor of the building, in a spa hotel. The fire alarm went off, forcing people to evacuate the hotel. However, the situation was quickly brought under control, so they didn’t have to wait long to return to their rooms.
“The fire alarm went off at 8:20. The evacuation went smoothly, the services coped with the fire that broke out in the SPA area on the 2nd floor of our hotel. Two hours later, we returned to our rooms safe and sound, ”Polska Volleyball tweeted.
The Poles are preparing for the next VNL matches
During the tournament, which will be held in the city of Pasay, the Polish team will play with Slovenia, Brazil, Canada and Japan. They enter the competition as the fifth team in the table. Immediately after the tournament, Nikola Grbic’s men will prepare for the final in the capital of the Pomeranian Voivodeship.
