After a long break, Artur Salpuk returned to the Polish national team, but how long will he stay in it? The owner of the Warsaw Project made a clear statement, which Nikola Grbic himself referred to.
As the 2022/23 club season was so long, he decided to give a chance to many players from the second row at the start of the international games. Therefore, Artur Salpuk, among others, returned to the national team. The 2018 world champion got enough time to play in the friendly matches against Germany, but that doesn’t mean he’ll stay with the Polish national team for longer. He himself does not lay down his arms, which Nikola Grbic himself clearly commented on.
Artur Salpuk returned to Poland national team
The very appointment of an attacker should not come as a surprise. Last season, he was one of the players that made Projekt Warszawa look so impressive, especially when he was coached by Petr Graban. According to the results of the PlusLiga games, Salupa had as many as six statuettes of the MVP of the match and scored 444 points.
He also performed well in friendly matches, and it was largely thanks to his efforts that the Poles first lost only 2:3, and then won 3:2. Nikola Grbic gave Salpuk the most playing time, which could clearly mean he was a sure bet for the first Nations League tournament. Indeed, later this player was among the 14 called to compete in Japan.
Artur Salpuk’s statement and Nikola Grbic’s reaction
“I have a predisposition for attacking play. I am always happy when I can attack a lot, - the volleyball player said in an interview with Interia and emphasized that during the sparring with our western neighbors, two goals were pursued: to polish the form and tactical schemes. From Salupa’s point of view, both of these issues are very important, because he returned to the national team after a two-year break with them and would like to stay as long as possible.
A year ago, he was not even in the first team, but what will happen now in the long term? On this occasion, the volleyball player made a clear statement. “I got goosebumps in Spodek. Playing for such fans and feeling the national atmosphere is a great feeling. I will not lay down my arms, I will fight at every training session and match. I’m going to give my “maximum”. Something will happen to my health before I give up. Let’s see where it takes me,” he said unequivocally.
Grbic also commented on the host’s words. “He did great against Germany, he played well. I can’t say that we’ve discovered something new, but at least we have one more player to choose from.”
