The two-time world champion in professional boxing has not had good results in recent years. He has averaged one fight a year and since 2019 has lost 3 out of 4 fights. First he fell against Mairis Briedis, then he was defeated by Lawrence Okoli. Then the representative of Poland defeated Francisco Rivas Ruiz, and in January 2023 he fell in a duel with Richard Riakporch.
- There will be no more championship duels, so we need to look for something else, - Głowacki said unambiguously in an interview with Przegląd Sportowy. He also admitted that he had already started training to prepare for his MMA start. However, before we see him in the ring, he must first complete all the formalities. In an interview, the 37-year-old musician said that he recently terminated his contract with the KnockOut group and is now a free agent.
Why does Krzysztof Głowacki want to fight in MMA?
- If there are interesting proposals for a fight, I will fight in boxing. If not, then it is known that there is talk about my fights in the MMA formula - he said and added that in mixed martial arts he would like to compete not with a freak fighter, but with a professional.
Later in the conversation, Głowacki explained why he made the decision to change discipline in the first place. He approached the matter pragmatically. “I have already played my part in boxing. I became the world champion twice, achieved everything I could, and gave my best. Now I have to think about making money and where the pay is better. You have to go there, because there is a family, a house, a future life. It’s time to make money, not dream about the World Cup, he concluded.
