Thomas Turnbichler appreciated the performance of the Polish representatives in the qualification before the main competition in Innsbruck. The Austrian revealed whether he was worried about Piotr Gil before the next competition of the Four Hills Tournament.

On January 3, 2023, ski jumpers competed in the qualification for the next individual competition held as part of the Four Hills Tournament. The leaders of our team Kamil Stoch, David Kubatsky and Piotr Zhyla entered the main competition. The latter, however, proved to be lower than expected. The performances of his wards were evaluated by Thomas Turnbichler himself.

David Kubacki, who ended up in first place, did very well in the qualifying rounds. It seems that his form is growing day by day and he is not going to give up his arms in the fight for triumph in all of TCS. However, he currently has a pretty big lead over Egner Granerud’s first Halvor. A little over 27 points and we are already halfway to the competition. Some hope for Byalo-Chervona may be the fact that the Norwegian took only 12th position in qualifying.

In an interview with Sports Review, Turnbichler acknowledged that Kubacki had recently made changes to his jumps. Specifically, it was about what position he takes before the jump. Jumper immediately followed his superior’s advice, which turned out to be accurate.

The Austrian was also pleased with how Kamil Stoch performed before the competition in Innsbruck. While he is in the top ten, although he could not fight for the podium. Meanwhile, he finished second in qualifying on Tuesday. According to the breeder, this was the 36-year-old’s best jump in TCS. “He looked natural, had energy and good technique, like Stoch in his best years,” he said.

Turnbichler is not worried about the disastrous performance of Zyla, who was only 27th in the qualifying rounds - he had a bad position at the start. If he takes the best, if he has the right timing, it will have a big effect. I’m sure he can do it,” he concluded.
