The opposition did not recognize the results of the elections to the State Duma in December 2011, after which the first rally of many thousands took place on Bolotnaya Square in Moscow demanding fair elections and Churov’s resignation. But it was only in 2016 that he was removed from the post of head of the CEC. On the right path, the official was respectfully retired.
Churov retained his loyalty to the “king” even after his resignation. Ivlev told reporters that his former boss planned to write a book about US interference in other countries’ elections.
