No matter which side Star Trek against star Wars debate, the consensus is simple: space exploration is cool! For almost a century now, the world has been constantly tuning in to enjoy the excitement and adventure of space exploration, and there is no sign that it will stop.

With groundbreaking shows like Star Trek paving the way for spin-offs and the science fiction genre in general, the world agrees: we need space! Drama, comedy, animation and westerns have burst into space in the last century, and how the world wants to explore it!

10 “Futurama” (1999-)

From the creative mind behind The Simpsons (Matt Groening), Futurama follows Philip J. Fry (Billy West), a lazy delivery boy who is inadvertently cryogenically frozen for a century. After waking up, he gets a job as a courier again, and the series focuses on his shenanigans at the workplace.

Along with West, the show boasts an all-star cast Katey Sagal, John DiMaggioAnd Phil Lamarr. Despite the show being canceled on two different occasions and on two different networks, it has persevered and continues to be an epic, drawn-out adventure with a new season in tow.

9 “Space Rangers” (1993)

The year was 1993 and CBS decided to take a chance on this short-lived cult space drama, and unfortunately it didn’t last. Space Rangers follows the ragtag Space Ranger Corps, the only line of defense against criminal space exploration activities.

The show only lasted six episodes, but each one was filled with solid spectacle. WITH Jack McGee, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Clint HowardAnd Linda Hunt for some of these actors it was a fun stepping stone as they went on to do really great projects.

8 ‘Andromeda’ (2000-2005)

Another master series of a great mind Gene Roddenberry is Andromeda. Here we follow Captain Dylan Hunt (Kevin Sorbo) seeks peace in the very distant future, but falls into the event horizon and freezes in time for hundreds of years.

After being discovered, Hunt begins trying to restore peace to the universe with a new team. Among them Rade (Steve Bacic), Doyle (Brandi Ledford) and Gemini (Laura Bertram). Each episode of five wonderful seasons is full of excitement and entertainment.

7 “Despite Gravity” (2009)

Like many amazing TV shows, Defying gravity taken from us long before they were supposed to. In this ambitious drama, we followed the adventures of eight astronauts as they take on space as their first space mission since landing on Mars.

Their space travels were constantly broadcast to Earth as an intergalactic reality show. Christina Cox And Ron Livingston take the lead and show that their talents are truly out of this world. Although thirteen episodes were filmed, only eight aired on ABC.

6 ‘Firefly’ (2002)

Belongs to the category of space westerns. Firefly remains one of Joss Whedongreatest creations. Following a team of misfits aboard the Serenity with Malcolm Reynolds (Nathan Fillion) as their captain, this series has created a whole new universe that sci-fi fans can fall in love with!

The show was attended by wonderful Alan Tudyk, Morena BaccarinAnd Adam Baldwin. Unfortunately, it was canceled before the first season aired; it has become a cult classic, inspiring a stand-alone movie and incessant fan clamor for new episodes of the show!

5 The Jetsons (1962–1963, 1985–1987)

What is described as analogous to the space age Flintstones, Jetsons follows the titular family in a comical portrayal of family life in a futuristic setting. Produced Hanna-Barbera Productions in the 1960s and then again in the 1980s, The Jetsons is one of the most recognizable animated sitcoms of all time.

Along with one of the most memorable musical themes, Jetsons served as an influential animation that opened the door to more amazing space exploration shows. The show’s popularity returned a few decades later when it was revived in the 1980s for a whole new generation of space lovers!

4 Star Trek (1966–1969)

We all know the slogan: “Space: the last frontier.” It has inspired generations since it was first spoken in September 1966 by Captain James Tiberius Kirk.William Shatner) on the USS Enterprise.

Star Trek was and remains to this day a truly inspiring series dedicated to human courage, progress and ingenuity. Bones (Deforest Kelly) and the incredible Mr. Spock (Leonard Nimoy) brought Shatner’s team together. Star Trek continues to inspire with new TV shows and movies coming out regularly, all thanks to this original series!

3 “Orville” (2017-)

While this is far from the grandeur of the various Star Trek series, Orville — a remarkable new approach to space exploration. With an infinitely talented mind Seth Macfarlane (from Family man fame) at the helm, this show was to become a hugely successful and exciting series.

By using Adrianne Palicki, Penny Johnson GeraldAnd Scott Grimes, McFarlane can bring his passion project to life. This team has proven over the course of three seasons that they clearly love what they do and put the best effort into every single episode.

2 The Mandalorian (2019-)

From amazing minds John Favreau and creators in Disney, The Mandalorian followed the adventures of the titled bounty hunter a few years after Return of the Jedi. Starring Pedro Pascal, Carl Weathers, Werner HerzogAnd Ming-Na Wenthe show is both visually stunning and critically entertaining.

The show has already had three hugely successful seasons on Disney+ platform, and a fourth is currently in development. It also spawned several spin-off series such as Boba Fett book,AhsokaAnd Skeleton Team. This is certainly a true testament to the lasting impression that the Star Wars universe has left on the world and that it still wants more.

1 Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987–1994)

Although not original in the series, Star Trek: The Next Generation surpasses the original in grandeur and spectacle. Shatner may have paved the way for space exploration, but Patrick Stewart was truly born to play Captain Jean-Luc Picard!

Together with Stuart Jonathan Frakes, LeVar Burton, Brent Spiner, Gates McFadden, Michael Dorn, Marina Sirtis, and much more, helped assemble an amazing crew of the new Enterprise spacecraft! The action takes place a full century after the original series. New Generation truly one of the greatest space shows to ever air.
