“If I can find an anchor, then I’ll never be a snob, like, ‘Oh, does that make me a less powerful actor?’ I was clueless, I didn’t know these films well enough, until the family that I consider to be my foster family, for example, forced me to watch them. They are crazy Marvel fans and I always laughed at them. Like, “Oh my God, you guys are such fucking nerds.” Then one spring break we rented a house and our kids were at camp and they said, “You fucking need to sit down and watch.” So we watched all the movies and I was like, “Oh my God, they’re damn good.” And the kids got in on it too, and it was such an enjoyable ride. And around him is a mythology that has been conceived with Clea for decades, and it challenges me. For example, how do you reinvent it? So I’m excited, but I honestly don’t know what the hell it’s going to be.”
