Indexation of pensions this year will be a record. “We got the money we needed,” Minister Marlena Malong said in an interview with SuperBiznes.

According to government assumptions, this year the indexation of pensions and disability pensions will be 13.8 percent, but there is a high probability that this figure will increase even more, since the amount of indexation depends on the average annual inflation rate, which will be announced by the Central Statistical Office in February 2023 , and the average wage index.

- We have adopted a law on sum-percentage indexation. Older people with lower pensions will certainly receive benefits indexed at PLN 250. We will finally know the interest rate in February when we find out the average annual inflation rate and the average salary, - said the Minister of Family and Social Policy Marlena Malong in an interview with the SuperBiznes portal.

Valorization money

Higher indexation means that more money will have to flow out of the state budget. According to the family minister, the funds are secured.

“We received the necessary amount of money. Regardless of whether it is 15 percent or more, indexation will be carried out in percentage terms. From March 1, the payment of pensions will begin in a new way, - said Marlena Malong.

13th and 14th pension

This year, pensioners will also receive two additional benefits - the 13th and 14th pension. Thirteen will be paid in the amount of the lowest pension, but after indexation. On the other hand, work continues on the law on the introduction of the fourteenth pension, because the benefit will be provided only to those pensioners who meet the income criterion.

- We would like the draft law on this issue to be submitted to the Saeima in March. We are still working on the level of the income criterion, said Malong, adding that all three benefits, including indexed pensions, will cost the state budget about PLN 70 billion.
