U.S. natural gas futures price below $4

The price of natural gas contracts in the United States fell to its lowest level since February 2022.

Yesterday’s session on the US stock market ended with a decline (S&P 500 -0.4%, DJIA -0.03%, Nasdaq Composite -0.76%). On stock exchanges in Asia and Oceania, the Japanese Nikkei 225 tested the lows of May, June and October (-1.45%) this morning.

The Hang Seng is up 3.22% this morning. to the highest level since July. Early in the session on Wednesday, European equities were dominated by gains (DAX +1.19%, CAC 40 +1.31%, around 9:50 am). This morning the WIG-20 hit its highest level in 7 months (+0.78% around 9:50 am).

Other major indices of the Warsaw Stock Exchange also rose. Among the mWIG 40 components, Bank Handlowy’s share price was the highest since 2014. Among the components of sWIG 80, stock prices of AB PL, Acautogaz, Votum and Alumetal reached their new at least one-year highs today.

Yields on 10-year government bonds of developed countries have been declining this morning. The yield on Polish 10-year bonds was approaching a minimum of a month ago, reaching the level of 6.364 percent.).

The price of coal contracts in Rotterdam fell by 18.06% yesterday. Contract prices for natural gas in Europe yesterday fell to their lowest levels in many months (in the Netherlands since February 2022, in the UK since June last year). U.S. natural gas (Henry Hub) contract price remained below its lowest level since February 2022, $4/MMBtu, this morning.

Precious metals were up this morning (gold +1.13%, silver +1.08%, platinum +1.43%, palladium +2.1% around 9:40 am). The USD/JPY exchange rate attacked above JPY 130 today (-0.73 percent around 9:30 am) but remained above yesterday’s 7-month intra-session low. Yesterday’s losses, which brought it to a minimum for 3 weeks, today offset the euro/dollar rate (+0.73% around 9:35).

The Polish zloty strengthened against the US dollar this morning and was stable against the euro (USD/PLN -0.63%, EUR/PLN +0.06% around 9:35 am). The bitcoin exchange rate against the US dollar rose today to its highest level in a week (+1.01 percent around 9:30 am), but still remained below the $17,000 level.
