Speculation around the Polish national team continues. In addition to the new head coach, journalists are looking for a potential candidate for the position of sports director of the national team. Cezary Kulesha spoke on this topic, who spoke about this in an interview with Roman Kolton.
The Polish national team has been without a coach for four days. On December 31, Cheslav Mikhnevich left this position, the contract with which was not renewed. Although the coach fulfilled all the sports conditions that Cesarii Kuleša set for him, the coach said goodbye to the team in an atmosphere of scandal.
In addition to speculation about a new coach, one of the main topics is the appointment of the sports director of the national team, i.е. a person who would be the “link” between the players and the coach and oversee the personnel policy. The person in this position would be someone like Olvier Bierhoff from the German national team.

A similar function in the Polish national team was performed by a very close associate of Adam Nawalka - Tomasz Ivan, who in 2013-2018 was the director of the Polish national team for organizational issues and was responsible, among other things, for organizing work during the training camp: booking hotels, tickets for football players, planning free time.
Tomasz Haito applied for this position, and Artur Wichniarek, Michal Zhevlakov and Grzegorz Mielczarski were nominated in the media. Most likely, none of these former players will even be offered this position.

Roman Kolton on the Pravda Futbol channel said that there would most likely not be such a function as the sports director of the Polish national team.
– I called the President of the Polish Football Association. And he said: “When it comes to the sports director, but not of the federation, but of this team, one would assume that the team director hires or influences the hiring of a coach. Then such a coach will reckon with such a sports director. However, in Poland, by tradition, this is under the direct supervision of the President of the PZPN,” he said.
Zbigniew Boniek: What should this role serve?
Zbigniew Boniek, former president of the Polish Football Association, has a similar opinion on this matter. “And what is the purpose of the role of the sports director of the national team? We already have one, which is very good, all the logistics are provided by the director Zaremba and Gavriolek (excellent), media coverage by the press secretary and the LNP (very good). Sponsors are supported by the marketing department. Anyway, this is the ambassador,” he tweeted.
