New car sales continue to be low. On this occasion, mechanics rub their hands, to which queues for car repairs line up. Demand for spare parts is also on the rise, which is good news for dealers but not good news for young car owners. They are increasingly being stolen for parts.

This is exactly what happened to two Audi Q7s (2017 and 2019) that were stolen in Germany this spring. One a few days ago in May and the other in April of this year. They were tracked down by border guards.

Two Audi Q7 disassembled

At the end of May, at the border crossing in Korchevo, a 48-year-old citizen of Ukraine reported about a check to leave Poland. As it turned out, in the cargo compartment of the bus, he was transporting a large number of automotive parts. The guards decided to check the cargo. They quickly determined that the components were from two luxury Audi Q7s stolen in Germany.

A Ukrainian woman transported 53 parts on a bus for a total of PLN 150,000. zloty. The details were confiscated, and the driver was questioned as a witness. Further actions in the case are ongoing.

Stolen parts worth more than PLN 3.7 million

The Border Service informs that recently another similar event has occurred at the Podkarpackie border crossings. A few days earlier, at the Polish-Ukrainian border crossing in Medyka, the smuggling of two vehicles was stopped. This time, about 150 components from Mercedes and BMW, stolen in Germany and the UK, were transported. Since the beginning of the year, officers of the Subcarpathian Border Guard have confiscated cars and spare parts from crimes for a total amount exceeding PLN 3.7 million.
