The number of used cars imported to Poland has been decreasing for another month in a row. Once again, the notorious age record of imported cars has been broken.

In November 2022, only 59,586 used cars and vans imported from abroad with a GVW of up to 3.5 tons were registered in Poland, which means a decrease of 18.7% year-on-year.

According to the Samara Institute of Automotive Market Studies, excluding the months of the pandemic (February, March, April 2020), such a low score with the number 5 at the beginning was last recorded in December 2015. Taking into account only November results, a decrease in imports was recorded only in 2014.

The results of this segment are getting weaker

The vast majority of imported vehicles - exactly 54,471 units - were cars, the registration of which this year has fallen sharply - by 18.7 percent. You see that the crisis is spreading to small businesses as well. Import of commercial vehicles - 5,115 units showed a decrease of 19.0%.

In total, imports for 11 months amounted to 717,425 vehicles, which is 17.5% more than a year earlier. less than a year earlier. There are many indications that at the end of the year the cumulative result of imports will not exceed 800,000. parts. The lower annual figure was last recorded in 2013. The number of used passenger car registrations also decreased over the year by 17.5%, and trucks - by 17.8%.

Broken infamous record

We are importing more and more old cars, the infamous record continues. The average age of an imported car in November was 12.93 years, and the average age after 11 months exceeded the bar of 13 years and reached exactly 13.08 years. This result was influenced by the record age of passenger cars, which exceeded 13 years (13.16), and in the case of gasoline engines reached the level of 14 years (14.00).

Most of the cars are from Germany.
