After the explosion of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station in the occupied territory of the Kherson region, residents of 20 settlements need to be evacuated. But the invaders do not take people out.
This was announced during a briefing in Kherson by Vice Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov.
“On the uncontrolled territory of the left bank of the Dnieper, at least 20 settlements are subject to evacuation”he stated.
According to him, the Russian occupation authorities do not provide this evacuation.
“We see it on social media and also in people’s messages. Here we appeal to all international organizations: the Red Cross, the UN”Kubrakov added, noting that this is necessary in order to ensure access and evacuation of Ukrainians in these settlements as soon as possible.
The official also said that at least two natural parks of national importance - “Nizhnedneprovsky” and “Kamenka Sich” in the Kherson region - may disappear forever due to the undermining of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station.
“The Nizhnedneprovsky National Nature Park and Kamenka Sich may disappear forever. The Ministry of Environment, together with the State Environmental Inspectorate, calculates losses,” he said.
According to Kubrakov, the estimated damage to water resources alone is 2 billion hryvnias.
“And this is without taking into account the damage to the nature of the reserve fund, etc., which will be considered for a long time and the amounts will increase exponentially”- added the Vice Prime Minister.
In particular, according to him, at least yesterday, 150 tons of lubricant already got into the Dnieper River. Kubrakov warned that this would lead to a deterioration in water quality, the accumulation and spread of toxins in it, and all aquatic biological resources in the region would die.
Recall that in a village in the Dnipropetrovsk region, located on the left bank of the Kakhovka reservoir, tons of fish have already washed ashore. Residents of the flooded areas of Mykolaiv, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions were banned from catching and selling fish, so as not to expose people to the risk of botulism.
