Prince Harry appeared in London’s High Court to testify in a high-profile trial against media holding Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN). The Duke of Sussex is the plaintiff. He accuses the holding’s journalists of invading his privacy.
The interest in the process is huge. Harry became the first member of the British royal family in nearly 200 years to testify in court. The British monarchy has for centuries observed the rule of “talk little and answer questions even less”. The younger son of King Charles III broke this rule. Therefore, his speech in court was a historic event.
Harry didn’t seem to expect to be treated like a normal witness. It all started with a scandal. The prince was expected on June 5, but he did not appear at the meeting, because he arrived in London only in the evening. The Duke of Sussex responded with generalities and tried to stigmatize the methods of the British press in general. However, he, for example, was forced to admit that he had no evidence that his phone was broken. But this is the main point of his lawsuit against the media holding.
Harry claims that MGN hired a private detective who was tasked with getting personal information. The largest leadership of the holding was interested in the relationship of the Duke of Sussex with the girls and his older brother, Prince William.

The youngest son of Charles and Diana believes that the detective broke his phone and eavesdropped on conversations. As a result, he passed the information received to journalists, and on its basis, they published scandalous notes about Harry for quite a long time, referring to insiders.
The plaintiff also prepared a statement for the court on 55 pages, which he read out at the meeting. The British media noted that Harry was clearly nervous. His voice sometimes trembled. He stopped to collect himself and continue.
Prince Harry began his statement by explaining the reasons for his move with his family to the United States.
