On Tuesday, June 7, a press conference and presentation of the new head coach of the national team of Ukraine was organized in the capital’s House of Football.
They, as expected, was 49-year-old Sergei Rebrov, whose contract with Al Ain from the UAE ended.
“Firstly, I want to thank the Armed Forces of Ukraine for preserving our Independence, for giving us the opportunity to talk about football, to hold our championship of Ukraine. I personally and all Ukrainians will continue to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine and our people who have suffered from rashist aggression. I am very happy to return to Ukraine, and my family is also returning. I am very glad that my wife took my decision this way.”, - Sergey Stanislavovich emphasized after his presentation.
The staff of the specialist has already included Spaniards Vicente Gomez, Alberto Bosch and Unai Melgosa, with whom Sergey Stanislavovich worked earlier, coach-analyst Gleb Platov, as well as goalkeeping coach Rustam Khudzhamov.
Less than a week later, on June 12, Rebrov will make his debut as the head coach of the Ukrainian national team in a friendly match with Germany, which will be held in Bremen. After that, the “yellow-blues” expect two official matches in the framework of the selection for Euro 2024 - away with North Macedonia (June 16) and nominally home in the Slovak Travi against Malta (June 19).
