In the Vinnitsa region, they said goodbye to the 25-year-old Evgeny Batrinak. On April 23, while performing combat missions in the Bogdanovka region of the Donetsk region, a soldier died as a result of artillery shelling. He served as a gunner-medic in military unit A4472. Almost a month of hellish suspense. Family and friends believed and hoped that Yevgeny was wounded or captured, but alive. Hopes for a joyful “Hi” into the phone and Yevgeny’s return home were cut short when a notification of a DNA match came up, the Yampol News publication reports.

“Eugene was born in the Republic of Moldova. But in 2000, his family moved to Mikhailovka to live permanently with his grandmother. Little Eugene in Mikhailovka made his first starts in kindergarten and school, which he graduated in 2013 and went to Donetsk to study at an assembly technical school. With the outbreak of hostilities in 2014, he transferred to study at the Mogilev-Podolsky Assembly College. After receiving a professional education, he went to work in the local economy. “Today I saw a lot of flowers. Zhenya, you also loved to give flowers, but there were whole bouquets from you … Where did you get them? After graduation, Zhenya got on his horse, traveled around and congratulated all the teachers. He always helped all the grandmothers in the village with his horse. Today all of them will meet him and hug him … We believed and hoped until the very end that our Zhenya was alive, maybe he was wounded or in captivity. Yevgeny Batrinak was buried at the local cemetery. Another flag of Ukraine flew over the expanses of the village. The Certificate of Honor and Sorrow and the flag that enveloped the coffin were presented to the mother of the deceased.
