18-year-old Nigerian boxer Miracle Amaeze died suddenly after a routine training session in his native Lagos.
The athlete, who competed in the first heavy weight, was knocked down twice during the morning sparring and lost consciousness. After first aid, he was taken to the hospital, where by the evening the doctors pronounced Miracle dead.
We add that in the homeland Amaeze was called a rising star of boxing and had high hopes for him. The 18-year-old guy had two fights in the professional ring in 2022 (the last one on July 1 in Lagos) and won both ahead of schedule by knockout in the first round.
This is the second death of an African boxer in the past few months. In early June, South African Simizo Buthelezi was placed in an artificial coma after a brain hemorrhage that occurred in a championship fight, but doctors could not save his life.
Earlier reported that the famous Ukrainian boxer-champion Vladimir Virchis had died.
