This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Irina Vereshchuk live on the Joint Telethon.
“As for the need for temporary housing, almost 800,000 citizens of Ukraine have lost their homes. Modular housing, like the rest of the construction, is handled by the Ministry of Regional Development, they have programs corresponding to the money for this. As you know, there are programs together with the Polish government, other governments already have the first modular towns, but they are definitely not enough,” Vereshchuk said.
She noted that she saw an example in the Chernihiv region, when people do not really want to live in modular towns, because they lived in their own private buildings. As they say, they want “at least one room, but in their garden.” But this has yet to be ensured.
“The fact that housing this year will not be built in sufficient quantities, we must already say. The fact that people will move and the heating season will be difficult is indeed also true. But the fact that we are engaged, for example, in housing, insulation, reconstruction, replacement of boilers, we are doing everything so that the displaced people have a place to live and where to spend the winter - this is also a fact, ”the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.
Vereshchuk voiced a forecast that about half a million more people will move from east to west in the autumn, which will be an additional burden on those who have already left earlier.
Recall that the majority of people who have received IDP status have not yet received social payments from the state. The government explains that these are mainly those citizens who registered and submitted their documents through Action.
Also, for internally displaced persons, the functionality in Action will be improved. Soon it will be possible to change the place of residence when relocating.
