Microsoft is letting ChatGPT off the leash. That’s what’s changing

Must read

Microsoft has just taken a big step in bringing the ChatGPT tool to the general public. From now on, the AI-enabled version of Microsoft’s search engine is no longer a curiosity, but the basic version of Bing. What does it mean?

Microsoft has fundamentally changed the way ChatGPT AI works in the Bing search engine. From now on, AI assistance should be the standard, not an add-on. Will users like it?

ChatGPT in Bing Core - Microsoft Expands AI Chatbot Service

Until now, to use the Bing search engine with the ChatGPT tool, you had to jump over several barriers. Go to Bing.com, select the new version of the search engine, and use the chat option instead of the search option. Only then could we enjoy the conversational style of searching for information on the Internet.

However, recently Microsoft has started to include ChatGPT in the regular search results in basic Bing. This means that even if we wanted to use the classic search engine, from time to time we can see a specially prepared chatbot window ready to help.

Internet testers were able to call ChatGPT “on the board” by asking Bing for the winver command, which is a command line command that reports the exact version of the Windows operating system. Sometimes the chat box appeared as the first result, and sometimes under several standard links.

While we can only speculate, it looks like Microsoft will expose ChatGPT more and more over time and encourage Internet users to use it.

Advertising in ChatGPT

The happy era of AI chatbots is coming to an end. As we wrote in Wprost.pl, Microsoft recently officially announced that it intends to add ads to ChatGPT conversations.

Some internet users testing Bing AI Chat have begun reporting that AI responses are “enriched” with sponsored links. Bing Chat still provides the source for its answers, but now every footnote can also be tagged with an “Advertisement” tag. This signals that the site owner has paid to promote the link.

In a recent entry on the official Bing blog, Microsoft explicitly admits that the company is “exploring chat ads.”
