Magda Lynette posted a touching post online in which she raised the topic of the war in Ukraine and how athletes can influence awareness on various important issues. “The topic of war is not so loud in the media anymore,” she said.
Magda Lynette has a slightly different personality than Iga Swiatek, who often speaks publicly about the war in Ukraine and clearly supports our southeastern neighbors. On the other hand, the 31-year-old has been more reserved on these matters so far, but now she has posted on Facebook that can be considered touching.
Magda Lynette thinks about the fate of Ukrainians and the war
The starting point was the longing for the family, which fans and journalists often ask her about. The tennis player explained that when deciding on a sports career, she was aware of the many sacrifices she would make for her own development. However, some time ago, she was in Poland for a long time and then noticed one thing.
We are talking about Ukrainians who, because of the war with Russia, fled from their homeland in order to survive. “At that time I was wondering if they have been here for a long time or relatively recently, what is their history?” Did they live here or just take shelter? If they’re only here for a while, how much do they miss the home they probably can’t return to yet? Then I remembered all the questions that I was asked. How lucky I am that I don’t always appreciate… How many of us,” wrote Lynette.
Powerful words from Magda Lynette
The Poznan resident also explained why she rarely speaks out publicly on such issues. The 31-year-old man adheres to the principle of “deeds, not words” and prefers to express support not with platitudes, but with concrete actions. However, now she has decided to change her approach a bit.
- On the other hand, I think that maybe that’s why I have these “ranges” to talk about it, pay attention to certain things, show my point of view … And I want to use this voice. The topic of the war in Ukraine is no longer so loud in the media, it is not given so much attention, why? Because it doesn’t click so well anymore? It’s not over yet and let’s remember that daily tragedies still happen,” she wrote with mild indignation.
At the end of the recording, Lynette added that she was glad that so many Ukrainians found refuge in our country, although she wishes them to find happiness and peace in their homes in the future.
