One of the first Apple TV+ series, morning showwas the original reason people even signed up for the streaming platform back in 2019 with her two big wigs, Jennifer Aniston And Reese Witherspoonleading a flock as two hosts on a morning show similar to tonight show. Of course, in a series about the cast and crew of a news program, there will naturally be a lot of secondary characters. The only problem is that morning show a little too generous when it comes to giving All of these characters an equal amount of screen time.

Alex Levy (Aniston) and Bradley Jackson (Witherspoon) are co-hosts of the morning news program: that fact alone should mean they get the most screen time out of everyone, and although they get a bit more time on camera than their co-stars , morning show— equally throughout both seasons — has always been a game to divert attention from its main stars from time to time. For some TV shows, it’s absolutely necessary to dive deep into other characters, but this show doesn’t fit. Game of Thrones or Grey’s Anatomy: it’s not natural All characters.

There are a lot of cool characters on the site morning show, but there is a fine line between those who are truly capable of running their own storyline and those who are not. First, we spent everything small too much time with random italian documentarian Paola Lambruschini (Valeria Golino) that Mitch Kessler (Steve Carell) met while hiding in Italy after he was fired from morning show. The time we spent with her was completely unnecessary, especially after Kessler died suddenly at the end of Season 2. We only have so much time during the season with these characters and the time we spent with Lambruschini could be wasted. much better used while diverting to any of the other more important storylines.

Along the same lines, we also spent quite a few hours with our favorite forecaster, Janco Flores (Nestor Carbonell), in the second season, which used the word “spiritual animal” in one of its broadcasts and received a fair amount of backlash online as a result. On the verge of cancellation, he reluctantly apologized, although the entire semi-scandal was given too much airtime on the show and Flores ended up not being the strongest character to devote as much time to. Carbonell is great as a side character, but that’s how it should stay: that character just isn’t enough to justify a big storyline.

But what makes one character more airtime-worthy than another? On morning showbeing on a show seems to automatically put you in a race to get some serious screen time, but on other shows with a bit more focus, when it comes to time on camera, it feels like it’s a mixture of an actor And the trajectory of the character in question. Lambruschini and Flores just weren’t strong enough to be recorded for that long. While it’s theoretically good to give every character the same amount of screen time, sometimes it’s just not the right move for the show. When morning showSeason 3 should learn from season 2, which proved that Apple TV+ drama can’t find its focus. It’s time to be a little pickier when it comes to who deserves the most screen time.

Julianna Margiles is the only new addition worthy of screen time

Secondary characters need to be considered on a case-by-case basis to decide if this is really the right move to take them higher in the screen time lineup, and Julianna MargulisSeason 2’s character, Laura Peterson, is quite possibly the only one who truly deserves the amount of screen time she’s received. (Honestly, she should have even been given more time.) Peterson is a veteran of the news business just as much as Margulis is a veteran of the TV game, and the fusion of those two personalities is what makes Peterson incredibly fun to watch and deserves to have time spent on the show.

The same goes for Corey EllisonBilly Crudup) and Charlie Black (Mark Duplass), who were originally minor characters, but gradually turned into absolutely irreplaceable members of the cast. There wouldn’t be a show without these three powerhouse hitters, along with Aniston and Witherspoon, of course. Focusing on these five characters is a much more logical way than getting stuck in a billion different storylines with characters who fail to live up to the weight that comes with taking on a larger role.

An almost mystical force must form between actor and character so that both can powerfully hold onto their screen time dignity. When a minor character doesn’t have that much power and gets too much screen time, it becomes painfully obvious to viewers that something is wrong. If morning show continues to make this mistake, she will eventually begin to affect the series as a whole, turning cracks into craters as the balance gets upset over time. The series remains one of Apple TV+’s biggest hits, even though Season 4 was renewed ahead of Season 3’s premiere. Season 3 is a big chance for the show to turn things around and finally find out who the real strengths of the show’s characters are. Without it, it risks becoming something of an unbalanced replay fest where viewers prefer to quickly skim through certain parts of the series rather than actually being involved.

Given the strong audience reaction to Margulis’ character, Peterson will take on a larger role in the third season, with Margulis confirming in an Instagram comment that she will appear in eight of the 10 episodes this upcoming season. It already shows that showrunners are paying more attention to who gets the most screen time, which is a welcome departure from what was the norm in the past.
