Mateusz Benek was one of those Poland internationals who weren’t sure which club they would play for in the near future. However, in early June, everything became clear.
As PGE Skra Bełchatów had huge financial problems lately and it was not even clear if it would collapse, its biggest stars were forced to look for new employers. This group included, among others, the official representative of Poland, that is, Mateusz Benek. For many weeks it was not known what the future of the center would be. Finally, on 2 June it was revealed that he would join Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie.
Mateusz Benek will play in Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie
His move has already been confirmed on the club’s official website. – Mateusz Benek, after three years in Belchatow, moves to Zawiercie. He is another World Champion who joins the Jura Army. This team already has other players with national team experience, namely Bartosz Kwolek and David Konarski.
The change of club is also an excellent opportunity for the representative of Poland to rise again to the heights of his skills and achieve further success. Last season, Skre was extremely difficult. Meade failed, as did all of his teammates (or worse). Belchatow finished the 2022/23 season only in 12th place. Paradoxically, they performed better in the CEV Cup, in which they reached the semi-finals.
Interestingly, Warta Zawierce has already tried to get Bienek, but she did not succeed. – This is not the first time we have tried to bring Mateusz to Zawiercie. This time we succeeded and it also shows how much progress we have made as a club in recent years. As you can see, this is noticed by high-class volleyball players who want to join us. In my opinion, this is the best center in the world, and I have heard the same opinions, especially outside of Poland, from many prominent volleyball figures, - said Aluron CMC President Warta Zawiercie, i.e. Crispin Baran.
