Polish volleyball players prepare for the first Nations League tournament to be held in Nagoya, Japan. As part of the tests, the wards of Nikola Grbic for the first time held two sparring matches with Germany, with which they lost once and won once. Then, already in Asia, the white-reds decided to test themselves with the hosts.

In the first friendly match, the Poles consisting of: Grzegorz Lomacz, Karol Butrin, Mateusz Poremba, Karol Klos, Kamil Semenyuk, Artur Salpuk and Kamil Shimura lost to the Japanese with a score of 2:3. The White-Reds had a chance for revenge on Friday, June 2.

Poland lost in the first set

This time, Nikola Grbich made a bet on the line-up: Jan Firlej, David Dulski, Mateusz Benek, Karol Urbanovich, Kamil Semenyuk, Artur Salpuk, Kamil Shimura (left). Volleyball players of both teams scored points in the series. Firstly, Byalo-Chervoni started with a 2-0 advantage, but lost it in a moment. The wards of Nikola Grbic reacted in the same way, so they returned to the lead. With the score 7:6, the Japanese showed a series of five points in a row, which allowed them to break away. Thanks to Jakub Szymanski, in the second part of the set, the Poles overtook the opponent with a score of 14:15. As a result, Jakub Szymanski significantly contributed to scoring two points in a row with his serve, but this was not enough, and volleyball players from the Land of the Rising Sun won the first game with a score of 22:25.

The Poles advanced to the second and third installments

The second set started well for the Polish team. The White-Reds played very well in defense and were effective in attack, thanks to which they took the lead 4:1, and then increased to 10:4. In the end, Kamil Semenyuk showed a series of excellent strokes, which contributed to the defeat of the Japanese in the second set 25:16.

From the beginning of the third set, the Poles showed class. For every two points scored by the white-reds, the Japanese were able to answer with only one “eye”. Thanks to this, the wards of Nikola Grbic took the lead 6:3. However, when the score was 7:3, something got stuck in our game, and the Japanese recorded a series of three points in a row. Fortunately, the white-reds kept the advantage and then increased it. Of the 11 situations, the Poles scored in nine, which allowed them to jump to 19:11. Wards of Nikola Grbic completed the work in the fourth set

The Japanese started the fourth set with a 3:5 advantage. Fortunately, the Poles pulled themselves together in time and equalized the score.
