Fernando Santos probably surprised few people with appointments for the upcoming matches of the Polish national team. The Portuguese is betting on his vision, in which there is no place for sentimentality. The coach decided to send out additional invitations to the leading white and red juniors.
We already know the calls ahead of the upcoming matches of the Polish national team against Germany and Moldova. Fernando Santos did not dare to invite Grzegorz Krychowiak, Kamil Glik or Kamil Grosicki, i.е. pieces that for many years constituted the strength of whites and reds. Instead, there was a place for Przemysław Wisniewski from Spezia or Mateusz Lengowski from Pohony Szczecin, who have proven themselves well in their clubs in recent months.
Fernando Santos called up additional players
Although the official training camp starts on June 12, Santos will start a series of additional training sessions a week earlier for players who have already completed the club season some time ago. The Portuguese will use many young players to help during practice. According to the official portal matchyki.pl, the Portuguese decided to name Kajetan Shmyt (Warta Poznań), Marcel Vendrychovsky (Pahonia), Arkadiusz Pyrka (Piast Gliwice), Michal Rakoczy (Cracovia), Milos Matysik (Jagiellonia Bialystok), Gabriel Kobylak (Radomiak Radom) to the team) and Patrick Peda (SPAL). The entire group will be tasked with supporting experienced players in preparation for the proper grouping of the national team.
Among the players originally assigned to the team who will join the former mini-group are, among others, Christian Belik, Michal Skoras and Bartos Slish. The team, which will start training on June 5, will play against the U19 national team in an unofficial match a few days later.
June plans for the Polish national team
The team must start training in full one week after the start of additional training. Four days later, the national team will play a sparring with the German national team. In turn, on June 20, Bialo-Cervoni will play with Moldova in the qualifying tournament for EURO 2024.
