The famous football player of Liverpool and the Colombian national team, Luis Diaz, who last year entered the top twenty candidates for the Ballon d’Or, is going through far from the best moments in his life. His parents were kidnapped in Colombia, The Sun reports.
According to Wradio, the 26-year-old striker’s parents, Luis Manuel Diaz and Silenisa Marulanda, were at a gas station in their hometown of Barrancas on their way home when two armed men rode up to their van on motorcycles and forcibly took them away.
The police and military began hot pursuit of the attackers, and they released the mother of the Liverpool player, Colombian President Gustavo Petr said. But they are still looking for Luis Diaz’s father (coach and owner of a football school).

Let us recall that the bronze medalist and top scorer of the 2021 Copa America (together with Lionel Messi) as part of the Colombian national team (9 goals in 43 matches in its composition) moved from Porto to Liverpool in January 2022 for 40 million euros (another 20 million were provided as bonuses). As part of Jurgen Klopp’s team, the 26-year-old footballer has already won the FA Cup, the National Super Cup and the English League Cup.
Previously, FACTS reported that Luis Diaz’s beautiful goal was in contention for the Feren Puskás Award in 2022.
