Already at the beginning of January, Jastrzębski Węgiel made the first winter fortification. The Poles, who took second place, were put up against the wall and brought in Mustafa M’Baye. By the way, they explained why they chose him.
Polish volleyball clubs do not sit idle either on the court or in the transfer market. This thesis was confirmed by Yastrzhebsky Wengel, who announced on January 2 that he would bring a new volleyball player to the team. Mustafa M’Baye, who previously played for Cuprum Lubin, joined the second-place team of our country. Half Pole, half Senegalese, he is a student at Trefl Gdańsk.
Mustafa M’Baye is a volleyball player from Jastrzembie Wengel.
For the average player, this is a great opportunity to make an even better brand in PlusLiga. In theory, he should get many opportunities to play due to the injury of a friend from his new club. Lukasz Wisniewski tore his anterior cruciate ligament during a match against Serrad Enea Czarne Rad and it’s almost certain he won’t play this season. Therefore, Yastrzebski needed to be replaced.
He was found less than a month after that tragic moment in Vishnevsky’s career. - Therefore, I am glad that we managed to find a valuable player relatively quickly, who will fill the gap left by Lukasz in the day-to-day activities of the team and will support during the matches. I would like to thank our new player for taking such a step during the tournament, as well as the management of Cuprum Lubin for allowing him to leave during the season. Everything was done in a friendly manner, with mutual respect and understanding, said Adam Gorol, president of Jastrzębski Węgiel, quoted in the club’s official statement.
The player himself is also pleased with the transfer. – I like challenges and I want to try myself. I am convinced that now is a good time to move to a stronger club. M’Bay and the new team should be fighting for the highest laurels, at least in PlusLiga. Jastrzebski currently sits third in the table but is just one point behind Asseco Resovia and Warta Zawiercie. For comparison, Cuprum Lubin, of which the middle team was from Upper Silesia, is in thirteenth place (out of sixteen teams in total).
